Barwell Parish Council

Serving the people of Barwell

Leicestershire County Council is committed to working together with local communities and partners to improve the lives, health and wellbeing of residents living in the county.

Many people across all sections of society experience loneliness or isolation at various times of their lives. Loneliness can affect anyone, regardless of the area you live in, your background or your personal circumstances.

Barwell is very fortunate to have the Barwell Community House who work with local residents and young people, encouraging them to become involved in community projects and activities, helping to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and working together to encourage a sense of pride back into the area.

The community house provides local residents, tenants and young people with direct access to public services including police, housing officers, adult education, the Youth Offending Team, Age Concern, Voluntary Action and Local Area Co-ordination. There are several groups led by volunteers and staff which include chit 'n' chat, knutty knitters, mindfulness and wellbeing group, kids krafts after school club, gardening group (which includes a tool share scheme for residents), carers' group and digital champion workshops with Age UK.

As well as the activities that run from the house, they can also assist in setting up tenant and resident groups and neighbourhood watch schemes, or any project you may want some help with.
