Community groups encouraged to apply for grant funding

Community and not-for-profit groups in Barwell are being encouraged to apply for a grant from the Parish Council.

The deadline for the latest round of applications is August 15th.

Funding of between £50 and £500 is available.

Organisations need to be based and/or working in the parish of Barwell to apply.

Grants can be used for the capital cost of new or improved facilities or equipment, providing a public service, supporting a specific event, improving the environment or enhancing quality of life.

All applications are considered by the Parish Council's Finance Committee and grants are awarded quarterly.

The next opportunity, following this round, will be in November.

Each application will be assessed on its own merits and will be considered along with other applications at the meeting.

The committee's decision is final and there is no scope for reconsideration.

Please be aware that if you have been successful in the past, you cannot re-apply until twelve months have passed.

Councillor Mathew Hulbert, who is a champion of the voluntary sector, says "We know these are difficult times for charities, community and not-for-profit groups in Barwell parish, given the economic impact of COVID-19, and as a parish council we want to do what we can to help groups rebuild.

"I want to encourage groups to apply for this grant funding, as part of that effort."
