As part of our 2017 Community Projects, the Council organised an Easter Event on Radford Park for local children who were each given an Easter Egg after taking part in an Easter Egg Hunt. Thankfully the weather was kind and was very well supported by the local community.

A number of roads are having the regular restricted road status lifted and the new traffic enforcement introduced. Streets in Barwell village centre are to get a 20mph speed limit as part of the county council's highways improvements plan.

PARISH COUNCIL GRANTS

Representatives from AFC Barwell and The Royal British Legion were recently presented with cheques from the Parish Council Community Grant Fund by Councillors Granger and Roberts. The AFC Barwell grant will go towards the maintenance of the heating system in the Pavilion. The Royal British Legion grant will go towards hiring a band for Remembrance Sunday.

Green plaque to mark Barwell meteorite unveiled

Barwell Parish Council are delighted to announce that the green plaque marking the surprise arrival of a large meteorite in Barwell on Christmas Eve in 1965 has been unveiled. The plaque sited at the junction of Chapel Street and Dawson's Lane - close to the site of the meteorite fall, has been set into an 8 ton granite boulder kindly donated from Midland Aggregates in Ellistown.
